You may think that all martial arts studios are pretty much the same. After all, most seem to have qualified instructors, experience teaching children, and various tournaments along the way. So, does it really matter where you decide to enroll? At Infuzion, we believe it does matter. Below are five things that every parent should consider before deciding on a martial arts studio for their child. Each can make a substantial difference in the quality of the education a martial artist receives.
Martial arts classes with fewer students allow each student to receive more personalized attention. With younger students, smaller class sizes also make it easier for a teacher to maintain control over the class and make sure each student understands the concepts and instructions. Infuzion’s smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are being overlooked. Smaller class sizes also allow our teachers to ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique.
Infuzion limits our martial arts classes to a maximum of 20 students per class with at least two instructors.
Our program is based on the most widely accepted form of Taekwondo taught. Our program adheres to the style established by the World Taekwondo Federation in Seoul, South Korea. This is the governing body for the Olympic competition. The methods being taught are the most rigorous and true to form. This ensures that each student leans the proper techniques and can effectively participate in competitions.
Any physically demanding activity must be taught correctly to reduce any detrimental effects on a student’s body and overall growth as a martial artist. For example, our tae kwon do instructors are all certified by the World Taekwondo Federation in Seoul, South Korea and by USA Taekwondo. This level of qualification is critical to success, safety, and precision of the styles taught.
At many martial arts studios, it is common to find the instructor or the owner conducting classes while acting as the administrator (answering telephones, helping new customers, etc.). By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer as the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To make your experience great, it is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like uniforms, schedules, billing, even when the teacher is occupied with a class. Our studios have office staff on hand during all regular class times, so you can get immediate assistance without disturbing the class.
Absolutely! The martial arts are one of the most enjoyable sports for hyperactive children. This is because it involves structure, rules, rituals, a stop-and-think attitude, and absolute obedience. No techniques are taught until the children have learned to stop, listen, and think. Classes are small, so the instructor’s attention can be appropriately focused on each child. The techniques are monitored carefully, emphasizing over and over that these are sports and are not to be used for any aggressive play. Infuzion instructors have a lot of experience helping children who have been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD. Please let us help your child focus their energy in an exciting and useful endeavor.
