*This two-week intensive is designed for 13+ year-olds. However, motivated 10+ year-olds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Infuzion’s two-week Musical Theater Intensive provides teens with a customized training package, including classes such as:
No two students are the same. This is why we've geared our Musical Theater Intensive to each individual’s interests and designed it like a university program. Included in the intensive is one 30-minute private lesson in voice, piano, guitar, or theater monologues.
Each student will also receive an Intensive packet, which will include 5 to 6 songs, 3 monologues, and a duet or group number, depending on the number of enrollees, all in varying genres and styles. The materials provided in Infuzion’s Musical Theater Intensive provide students with techniques they can continue to use and explore.
Parents and guests are invited to the last class of the intensive, Friday, August 17 at 3:00 PM, for a performance showcasing the techniques learned.
Space is limited to only 10 students. So don’t wait; register today!
Classes Acting 101 & Beyond – Musical theater, perhaps more than any performance genre, places a heavy burden on its performers. They are responsible not only for singing and dancing exceptionally, but also for making the transitions from dialogue to song and dance, and back again, appear as seamless and natural as breathing. The only way to accomplish these feats is by gaining an understanding and appreciation of linguistic and acting principles. This class will begin with basic improvisational techniques to get creative and spontaneous juices flowing, and work towards tackling the commitment needed to make dialogue work. Students will work on scenes from classical, contemporary and musical theater. At the end of each session, selected scenes will be performed.
Musical Theater Techniques – Songs and their lyrics are vehicles through which feelings and thoughts give rise to expression. They are used to introduce characters, establish the setting (time and place), or express what words alone will not. In this class, we will learn how to analyze a song’s music and lyrics and then put that knowledge to the test on its feet. Using these tools, we will leap from the mundane to creating truly memorable performances.
Musical Theater Dance Styles – Like dialogue in a play, dance is a medium for communicating ideas, emotion, and the physical manifestation of music. Using movement inspired by the genre’s preeminent choreographers, this course will focus on the story telling aspect of dance in musical theater past and present.
How to Successfully Navigate an Audition – The hardest part of being a performer is not the show itself, but landing the role in the first place. This special one-day class will cover how to tackle your nerves, the process of selecting 16 and 32-bar cuts of music, accompanist etiquette, and cold-reading techniques. After this, auditions should seem a little less intimidating.
